7th and 8th Grade ART Sketchbook

7th and 8th grade students are required to draw something in their sketchbook each week. These assignments are to be done at home, while looking at the object of their sketch.

An assignment schedule will be given to the students in advance of each quarter. Sketches are due on Tuesdays and may be turned in early. Sketches not turned in on time are subject to BIST policy. full credit will be given for the first late sketch. 60% credit will be given for any opther late sketch, and will result in Homework Helpers in the library during lunch recess.

A parent signature must be on each sketch paper, the same page as the sketch. Please include the date. Sketches without a parent signature will be considered late.

The student is to look at the object as they are drawing it. They may not draw from memory, or trace the object. If the object is laying on a table or elsewhere, an over head view is not acceptable.

Each sketch can earn up to 20 points the grade is based on the same type of effort and quality required in class. Overall composition is important along with detail and shading. 30 minutes or more is usually needed to drqw a quality sketch that the student can be proud of drawing.
