Welcome to St. Peter Catholic Church

in Jefferson City, Missouri!

We’re glad that you’re visiting our website, and we welcome you to this important part of our community. Founded in 1846, St. Peter Church is rich in faith and tradition.

Following the example of St. Peter, the Apostle, after whom our parish is named, our parish’s common goal and purpose is to profess our belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ through word, worship, education and action. Several hallmarks of our parish are the St. Peter Interparish School (established in 1854), the Vogelweid Learning Center, our devotion to the Blessed Sacrament through celebrations of the Eucharist and parish Perpetual Adoration, and the generous and faithful stewardship, gospel joy, and willing service that our parishioners strive to live out and share with others each day.

The buttons to the side and the pull-down tabs above will provide a great deal of information about our parish and the Catholic Church. We hope that the information on our website will give you a glimpse into the life and vitality of our parish and community.

We invite you to come and personally experience the warmth and hospitality of our parish. We’re located next door to the historic and beautiful Missouri State Capitol. You’re always welcome to visit us on the web and to come for a visit in Jefferson City, Missouri. Thank you for visiting us today and for all the kindness and generosity that you offer in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. With our parish and community, I am

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Fr. Greg Meystrik,

Pastor

JCYA Winter Events

Valentine’s Day Dinner and Dance – Saturday, February 14 – Come to the Schwartze Memorial Catholic Center (A.K.A. the Chancery, 2207 W Main, Jefferson City, MO 65109, behind the Cathedral) for an evening of delicious food, fellowship, and a little dancing! Men, please bring $5 for food; ladies please bring a drink or dessert of your choice. Dinner will begin at 6:30pm. We’re considering this a “formal” event, so this is your chance to show your style and wear your finest! There may even be a special appearance by a certain dignitary from Rome…!

Bible Study – Thursday, February 19th – Join us at 6pm at Panera in Jefferson City for a Bible study with your favorite young adult Catholics!

Retreat – Sunday, February 22 – If you’re looking for a little getaway to reconnect with Our Lord, join us for a Lenten retreat beginning with Mass at 9:30 am at Holy Family Parish in Freeburg. There will be talks, adoration, hopefully confession (that's tentative right now) and Stations of the Cross! After Mass we are going to have a breakfast potluck, so please bring your favorite dish. The retreat is free; however, we ask that each person bring a small donation for the parish for hosting us (and perhaps a donation for our priest) -- $2 should cover it! If you are interested in carpooling from Jefferson City, please let us know.

Other Events:

XLT Adoration – Sunday, February 8 – Come adore Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament at the Cathedral of St. Joseph from 7-8 pm. Though this is an event catered towards high schoolers, many young adults have been known to attend, and sometimes go out for ice cream or coffee afterwards!

Night of Vocation Awareness (NOVA) – Friday, February 13 – The Diocese invites all young adults to support vocations by attending the 14th annual Night of Vocation Awareness at the Holiday Inn Executive Center in Columbia. Social hour starts at 5:30pm, dinner at 6:30pm. Fr. Joe Corel is Master of Ceremonies. Cost is $100/person. Contact the Stewardship Office at 573-635-9127 for more information or to register.

Theology of the Body Session – Thursday, February 19 – Fr. Joe Corel facilitates these sessions and they are always very informative. Meet at the Chancery; 6:30-8:00 pm.
